Favorite Pictures

Here are my new favorite pictures of Libby. Too cute!

Playdate

Libby had her first scheduled playdate with her cousin Zoe yesterday. It went really well. The girls got along...really didn't play much together. They mostly just took the toy that the other one had...but it was still really wild to see them play together! This was the best picture I could get of the two of them...they were mostly too busy focusing on other things. =)

Libby and the camera

We take a lot of pictures of Libby. You would think she would be used to it by now...but she HATES the camera. Look at her trying to grab it (right)
And then there is my new favorite picture (left).

Libby Swimming

We put Libby's swimming suit on her for the first time and took her 'swimming' in her pool on our deck today. It went pretty well after about 5 minutes. We discovered her swimming suit is a little small...but other than that, once we added ice to the water she had a BLAST. Here is a video!

Counting: Feist on Sesame Street

This song haunted me on the iPod commercials but this is just too perfect for Sesame Street.

Bouncing to Mommy

Seriously - why would you want to crawl or walk? Everyone does it! Bouncing is more fun!!

10 Month Review

It's that time again to do another month in review. We're up to 10 months now!! Each month seems to go faster than the previous one. Libby also seems to get more and more fun each month. We did not have a doctor visit but when we measured/weighed her this is what we came up with:
weight: 30.4lbs (per our scale)
length: 32inches

I thought I would do a few bullet points to highlight some of the interesting things...of course it's all about the Libster!!

  • Vocab -- Libby can say Ball, Cat, Stop, No, Hello (sort of), Momma, Dadda, book
  • Favorites -- Standing, 'baby on the cob'*, tickling her feet, waving, pulling people's hair, puppets, bath time, bopping the cat as she screams, "Max"
  • Dislikes -- Doesn't really dislike anything. Going through a Mommy only phase right now...so I would say dislikes it when I'm not around.
  • Feedings -- Graham Crackers, Puffs, Tried peas but smashed them versus eating. Favorite foods right now are Graham Crackers and Garden Vegetable. She's doing really well learning to pick up the food and place it in her mouth.
  • Crawling -- no progress - just wants to scoot on her butt
  • Sleeping through the night -- This is not going well. She only has 1 feeding at night but we're trying to get rid of it by decreasing the amount of the bottle. It seems to be working because she is not eating as much during this feeding but it would help if she wasn't constantly sick.
  • Illnesses -- Libby cannot seem to shake the cold. We've started her on the inhaler treatments this week to try to help her.
  • Teeth -- She may look like her Daddy but she is taking after her Mommy in the teeth area. She has 8 teeth total now. 4 on top and 4 on the bottom. This is really helping with her all of a sudden making more progress in eating 'real' food (aka, crackers). She's learned to break the food off.

* We roll her into our arms baby style and then pretend to eat her like a corn on the cob.

Milestones:
Libby seems to be making the talking/vocab and hand-eye coordination milestones at or ahead of schedule. Still behind on the walking/crawling/movement type milestones. This is probably because she's such a large baby. Jim and I both think she is going to walk before she crawls. She just prefers to scoot on her butt versus actually trying to do the traditional crawl. She will go to standing from a sitting position if sitting on our laps but other than that, she is not really interested. Libby does love to stand while holding onto our fingers and won't move her feet to try to walk unless we move one and then she'll move the other. So...I think we're getting closer!! Anyways, here is the 'official' milestone review:

... should be able to:
  • stand holding on to someone or something - check!
  • pull up to standing position from sitting - not yet...she's pretty content either sitting or being pulled to the standing position.
  • object if you try to take a toy away - check!
  • say "mama" or "dada" indiscriminately - check!
  • play peekaboo - check!
  • exchange back-and-forth gestures with you - check! So fun!

... will probably be able to:
  • get into a sitting position from stomach - not yet...again this may be related to her being such a large baby.
  • play patty-cake (clap hands) or wave bye-bye - check! Waving started last week and it is just too adorable. She waves to herself mostly but it is intended for whoever is around.
  • pick up tiny object with any part of thumb and finger - check!
  • walk holding on to furniture (cruise) - not yet...we're working on getting her to shuffle her feet while we have her in the standing position right now.
  • understand "no" (but not always obey it) - check! haha - she will even say it back!

... may possibly be able to:
  • stand alone momentarily - check! but only for about 5 seconds (if that!)
  • say "dada" or "mama" discriminately - check! We LOVE this
  • point to something to get needs met - check! She either points or does her famous 'Libby stare' (those of you that have gotten this stare know exactly what I mean!)

... may even be able to:
  • indicate wants in ways other than crying - check! Really through the staring!
  • "play ball" (roll ball back to you) - not intentionally...she mostly just kicks it back on occasion but I don't think she knows what she is doing.
  • drink from a cup independentantly - check! It's thanks to the wonderful Nuby sippy cup! Although, she has recently tried to drink out of a normal glass...we are just too nervous to let her!
  • pick up a tiny object neatly with tips of thumb and forefinger - check!
  • stand alone well - not yet but we're working on it
  • use immature jargoning (gibberish that sounds as if baby is talking in a made-up foreign language) - check!
  • say one word other than "mama" or "dada" - check! She says several now!
  • respond to a one-step command with gestures ("give that to me" - with hand out) - check! That is how we know she wants more Puffs.
  • walks well - not yet!

Muppets

We're going through a puppet phase in the house. Jim sent me this last night and since I love Beaker, I wanted to share it with you all. Meep!

Pool of Balls

Libby loves her pool...especially when it is indoors away from the bright sun and full of plastic balls!

Faces

Libby loves to make faces and this has to be one of my favorites. It is a cross between "what the heck you are doing" to "oh, you are so silly!".

The next Mozart?

Erin and Adam are starting Zoe young on the piano. Who knows - she could be the next Mozart!

Sleeping Angels

Here is a picture of my sleeping angels. I am so blessed.

Hungry Libby?

I have to share this picture where it looks like my little one is about to eat her cousin Zoe. too funny.

Libby Eyeing Zoe

Learning to give kisses

Libby hasn't learned how to give kisses yet but Zoe sure has! Well, sort of. =) It may look like she is trying to bite my Mom's face but this is how she gives kisses. It is adorable!

Thumb Fun

This pictures isn't of Libby but of Zoe (my sister's little one) and my Dad sucking their thumbs. It was just too cute not to share!

First 4th of July

We survived Libby's first 4th of July. I was hoping she wouldn't take after me and be terrified at every single little crack, pop, etc and she wasn't! She slept better than any of us that night with all of the booms going on. It was great! She's such a trooper. We had a wonderful day and I can't wait to see what she thinks of seeing fireworks next year. She really didn't care about them this year. =)
